DAY 2 FIT FINLAND

18 Feb

In all honesty, I think I was done with my mini fitness challengeĀ today by 11am, as I took the kids sledging with my mum for almost two hours. Running up the hill pulling three kids in two separate sledges definitely qualifies as proper exercise. (Especially when you are wearing Uggs, which are not only ugly but also the most slippery shoes on the planet!)

After Alvar’s nap it was full on action again as we took my three and my gorgeous nephew swimming. I was pretty much done after that but decided I had to do something for me so here goes…

Day 2: 30 minute run
It has been snowing non stop for the past two days so I was cautious it was slippery. I think I managed about 6K, in which time I came to two conclusions. 1) The people in Helsinki look at you weirdly when you say hello to them whilst you jog past them. I stared firmly at the ground after my 8th failed attempt to get any sort of a reply from anyone… 2) I actually really enjoy running in the snow.

I rewarded myself in true Finnish style with an ice cold beer in the Sauna afterwards.

Tomorrow I’m taking on a Kettlebell Bootcamp class (whatever that means) with my brother’s girlfriend, so check back in and please share your fitness stories – even if they don’t involveĀ random gnomes…
