TIME TO “MAN UP”…

9 Jul

In less than two weeks, I’ll be doing a 5K Spartan Race, which is basically a hard core obstacle course with barbed wire, ice, water, fire and mud. And based on the videos I’ve watched, a lot of it!

I’ve been into sports since I was very young and fitness has always been a big part of my life. I enjoy a challenge, want to be pushed and love that achy feeling after a good workout. However, I’m dreading this Spartan Race, because I’m a bit of a girl when it comes to things like getting soaked…I signed up without doing any research on the race, and I actually doubt I had joined had I seen the videos

It’s too late to complain about it now, so all I can do is carry on training. I usually always run on the road, but have gone out on the fields with my lovely running buddy Sarah twice now. Last night we were navigating through huge piles of cow poo, mud thistles and nettles in one of the local fields. We had to take slight detours, as some of the bridges we had crossed on the previous run were either completely under water or surrounded by it. I should have used it as training for the Spartan but chickened out!
